Amsterdam Wine Festival
The Amsterdam Wine Festival takes place twice a year at the iconic Westergasfabriek. During the harvest festivals in March, where the southern hemisphere is central and during the harvest festivals in September where the northern hemisphere is central. The farmers then celebrate that the grapes have been safely collected and the wine making process can begin. We celebrate that with them! With more than 5,000 m2 of wine experience, Amsterdam Wine Festival is the largest wine festival in Amsterdam. For three days you can go here to taste more than 300 wines by the glass. In the Gashouder and the Transformatorhuis you can choose from a rich selection of wines from the various wine countries. Here, extensive attention is also paid to bio-, biodynamic and natural wines.
Coming edition, from Friday 22 to Sunday 24 March 2018, we celebrate the harvest festivals of the Southern Hemisphere! This edition we will make a trip to the new world, where among others Argentina, Chile and South Africa are central. Further away you will also find a small unknown countries such as Peru from the Southern Hemisphere. Taste the culture, the food and of course the wines from these fantastic wine countries.
In the Gashouder you will find next to the various wine countries: 'The Room of Senses', a wine auction, wine art gallery and much more! In addition to the Gasholder you will find an extra 500m2 of wine experience in the Transformator House with more than 80 beautiful open wines. Here every wine lover can excite his taste buds exuberantly. The Klönneplein (square between the Gashouder and the Transformatorhuis) will be transformed into a Gastronomic square. Here you will find the tastiest food trucks and restaurants.
In addition to an abundance of wine, food and culture, there is also much to experience during Amsterdam Wine Festival. Think of master classes led by the winemakers who are flown from the various countries. Grape tasting and wine quizzes in the Wine Festival. Cultural entertainment such as tango dancers and the nicest bands and DJs so it is also possible to dance!
